REVIEW: L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme

For the past 2 months, I've been using the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme shampoo. Let me first say that the L'Oreal Paris Elvive shampoos are my absolute favourite shampoos from the drugstore! They don't dry your hair out, don't contain too much fragrance and don't drag your hair down after washing. Before I've used the Elvive Nutri Gloss Light shampoo, which is definitely my favourite all-time shampoo. So, I wanted to see if I like the Total Repair Extreme more than the Nutri Gloss one.

L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme shampoo
L'Oreal claims that the Total Repair Extreme shampoo is enriched with LAK 1000 and Ceramide. These substance should have the ability to deeply penetrate the layers inside the hair fibre and help repair the broken fibres.

''Overall the hair fibre appears reconstructed and restored right to the tips, leaving it soft to the touch.''

I didn't know where LAK 1000 stands for, so I googled it. Apparently, it's lactic acid which can penetrate the hair 10 layers deep to completely reconstruct chemically-treated and abused hair. Now, I don't know if I should believe this. Usually, I leave my shampoos only around 2 minutes in my hair and then rinse the shampoo out. I don't think this gives the lactic acid the time to ''reconstruct broken hair fibres''. But I'm no chemical analyst, so what do I know. I just wanted to point it out!

Ingredient list L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme shampoo
In the picture above you can see the ingredient list of the Total Repair Extreme shampoo. The LAK 100 (lactic acid) is in the upper half of the ingredient list, so that's a plus. What I also like about the L'Oreal shampoos is that they don't contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) but Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES). I always find that SLS really irritates my scalp. So I always go with shampoos which contain SLES, the milder surfactant. Another thing I like in the L'Oreal shampoos is that they always have perfume/fragrance listed as the last ingredient. A lot of manufacturers throw alot of perfume in their shampoos, which I don't find necessary because it can irritate my scalp.

Consistency L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme shampoo
The shampoo has a normal consistency, not too thick and not too runny. It's very easy to divide it into your hair! The smell is also nice. I can't quite describe it, but it has a typical normal drugstore shampoo scent to it. Lastly, it lathers up well.

Conclusion: L'Oreal Paris never disappoints me with their shampoos! If you're looking for a cheap drugstore shampoo, which cleans your hair, you should buy this. It doesn't really hydrate your hair or 'reconstructs' your hair which it claims. But honestly, I never buy shampoo for hydration purposes because I rinse the shampoo out after 2 minutes. I use my hair masks, oils and serums to hydrate my hair.

I bought the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Extreme shampoo at DM for around €2.80 (I don't know the exact price because I bought it last year at the drugstore in Germany).
